Agenda 2063: The Africa We Want (popular version)

The aspirations reflect our desire for shared prosperity and well-being, for unity and integration, for a continent of free citizens and expanded horizons, where the full potential of women and youth, boys and girls are realized, and with freedom from fear, disease and want. The AU is leveraging lessons learned to avoid past mistakes and collectively develop a path forward to achieving this vision. There's no question, it is definitely about motivation to be united and learn from a trauma-informed history to build a better unified African society (these are my words, not theirs, but they want to learn from slaverym colonialism, and apartheid to be quitable and united in the future).

The research method involved reviewing past plans and commitments, mobilizing people for ownership of continental programs, emphasizing self-reliance, and ensuring accountable states and institutions. It also involved assessing the role of Regional Economic Communities and addressing challenges faced by island and land-locked states.

Agenda 2063 is a strategic framework created by the African Union to achieve a prosperous, integrated, and peaceful Africa driven by its own citizens over the next fifty years. It is rooted in Pan-Africanism and African Renaissance, aiming to address historical injustices and realize the 21st Century as the African Century. The agenda outlines aspirations for shared prosperity, unity, good governance, peace, cultural identity, people-driven development, and a strong global presence. It includes specific goals such as eradicating poverty, transforming economies, modernizing agriculture, and addressing climate change. The agenda emphasizes the importance of self-reliance, capable institutions, and transformative leadership. It also highlights the need for Africa to unite and speak with one voice on the global stage, advocating for the continent's interests and reforming international institutions. The report calls for immediate action to align national and regional plans with Agenda 2063 and for the international community to respect and support Africa's vision.

The agenda decomposes in 7 major aspirations for the continent and each aspiration is further broken down into strategic and tactical goals/actions the AU wants the continent to collectively take and/or engage. This is definitely a different approach to drivers and with one BIG scenario/vision of the future.
