The report presents a foresight study on the future of EU environmental policy and the 2050 sustainability transition. It explores long-term visions for eco-industries, trends, drivers, and policy implications, focusing on the European Green Deal and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The study uses a systemic approach to define eco-industries and includes scenarios illustrating possible sustainable futures. It also assesses progress towards the SDGs and discusses the need for a 2050 vision, systems approach to policymaking, citizen engagement, sustainable business models, product transparency, and policy integration across social, economic, and environmental pillars. The European Green Deal aligns with several conclusions from the study, emphasizing the interconnectedness of EU and global sustainability.
