Blocking policy

If a user fails to follow the policies and guidelines of Open Foresight Hub, official warnings should be issued by an administrator, guiding them away from inappropriate behavior. A user who does not adhere to warnings and persists in rule-breaking behavior, or who substantially violates Open Foresight Hub's rules, may be banned. Further violations and multiple bans of a user could result in the user being blocked.

A block indefinitely removes user's ability to edit pages and participate in discussions. Blocked user's usernames are appended with _blocked to indicate their status i.e. elizabethherfel_blocked

Please note that blocking is not the preferred way for a situation to be resolved. A user may be warned by an administrator to refrain from editing an article or a certain type of article for a period of time. Failure to comply with this request will result in a temporary ban. Bans are generally cumulative in nature and will increase in duration for repeat offenses. A user who is banned for one week due to sockpuppetry (using one or more fake accounts) may be banned for two weeks or longer on a subsequent offense. Blocks are only used when offenses continue after multiple bans.

If a blocked user is found to create additional accounts attempting to circumvent the block, the additional accounts will be blocked as well.

If a user believes they were unjustly or accidentally blocked, they may submit an appeal to a member of the Editorial Board by emailing admin@openforesighthub.org In all cases, please include any information you think would be useful in an appeal process.
